Keeping it Local

Today was a busy busy day.

I had a... pre-calc test, Beta Club meeting, meeting with an assistant principal to get Student Council ideas approved, job interview that involved playing with play-doh, picking up a dress from my new favorite boutique, and grabbing a surprise snack.

Things that were supposed to happen: an AP human geography test tomorrow aka studying tonight, a trip to this awesome indoor trampoline place, and a doughnut date with my BFF and her French exchange student.

Why not? My teacher pushed the test date a day back, yay! I realized I wouldn't have time to make it from my job interview to the indoor trampoline place. My BFF's French exchange student got sick today.

But I did get pick up a dress I pre-ordered online and got to try it on! It is super cute, and I'm in love. I'm wearing it on Friday and our Student Council dance is on Friday night, so I'll wear it then too!

I wasn't expecting to get a snack on the way home. The job interview was close to my absolute favorite restaurant, so I was disappointed that my mom didn't let me get some Mexican. But I got some delicious French pastries from a local bakery.

This post is dedicated to local businesses. They're some of the best businesses because you know you're supporting people in your community and they're always unique and cool! There isn't that shop on every corner.

My dress and pastries were from local boutiques in my area!

The dress I got!
Excuse the filter, the lighting wasn't that great.
I'm in love with it!

The actual color of the dress.

Lemon tarts are my favorite thing. Ever.
#1 weakness.

The last lemon macaroon!
Almost too cute to eat. Almost.

Gorgeous brownie!

Here's to supporting local businesses. :)

Rent the Runway

  1. I love dressing up and formal events. I'd like to think that I have a good eye for fashion, and whenever I gain another follower on my fashion Pinterest board, I'd like to think that's someone saying "I like your taste!" Is that weird? I don't know. I just really like clothes and shopping. Really. Really like clothes and shopping. I have since... forever?! At least since my mom stopped buying my clothes for me. I remember picking out a cute Tommy Hilfiger red jacket with ribbon on it in 2nd grade as a Christmas present from my cousins; I think I wore it everyday after I got it...
  2. My budget doesn't allow me to buy lots of dresses, especially expensive formal dresses. One day... one day...
  3. I hate re-wearing dresses. I got the cutest dress from BCBG at T.J Maxx for a formal I attended 2 years ago... I loved it. However, my mom said I could only buy it if I wore it to my cousin's wedding as well. (The dress was $80 at T.J Maxx, original price around $250... all my friends' dress were around $50, whoops!) I agreed, because the dress is gorgeous! I have worn it since to the formal, the wedding and to a fancy dinner with my best friend. It is such a gorgeous dress that I don't mind wearing it a couple times, and I'd still wear it again if I had a time... But I hate having to Insta the same dress over and over again. ;) And you have to Insta special events! Thank goodness that my mom and I are the same size, and she has this gorgeous Calvin Klein blue dress I've worn to some formal school events.
    The wedding!
    BCBG Maxazria

    Don't mind the Insta filter.
    Dinner with the BFF!
    Thanks Mom!

So what's the solution to all these problems? Rent the Runway! The dresses from Rent the Runway are gorgeous, designer and you can pay a great price to wear them once. Aka different dresses for different occasions! You can literally rent the runway... so cool!

I haven't used it yet, but the reviews are great. The best part is there's a retail store in NYC, so you can actually try on the dress in person before buying! If you don't live in the city, RTR lets you rent two different sizes in the dress, for free! Just in case your normal size doesn't fit. How perfect is that?! Love it.

Yesterday, I watched Sarah Belle's haul video that had Tobi clothes. I had to check out Tobi... I mean 50% Off Your First Order is enough to get me interested!! I checked out the website. There are sooo many clothes! The variance is crazy too... but anyone can find something that they would love on this site.

Five on Friday

It was not my week, from friendship to allergies. I don't hate many things, but I do hate pollen. I'm glad the (school) week is over, and I'm ready for a fresh new start.

Without further ado, here is my five on Friday!
  1. Retail therapy: #sorrynotsorry. I know this isn't a healthy habit, but shopping online really does make me feel better. Finding out that I might be able to get Torys made my day a lot better. I know I'm materialistic, but it makes me happy. So yeah. Yay for online shopping. Aka mainly just looking online and deciding whether or not it's a good enough deal to ask my parents. Here are some of my favorite things from this week. I hope to go to the mall this weekend so I can try on Torys, check out the Anthropologie sale, see the C.Wonder sale, and hopefully shop my heart out. The weekend is pretty busy, but I really hope I will make the trip down there!
I ordered this dress for our student council dance.
I love it, and I'm so excited to pick it up on Tuesday!

  2. Coffitivity: I just saw this on Corals & Cognacs, and I had to check it out. This is an interesting theory that coffee shops' sounds boost creativity. I think this is interesting, and I haven't downloaded this app yet, but I think I'll try it out. You never know, right? And there's nothing I love more than the coffee shop atmosphere... iced coffees, avocado toast (if I lived in NYC), giant cookies, people watching. I reunited with my best friends last year at a local coffee shop, and it was amazing. Iced coffees, giant cookies, and reuniting with some of the most intelligent, kind, caring, beautiful (inside & out), and interesting people. (aka my BFF's: M, AF, & AM!) M's sister was sitting on her laptop at her own booth drinking an iced latte typing away on her laptop. She was people watching and typing brief descriptions of her observations. They were really interesting to listen to because it was just based off those 15 seconds she saw them. I'd love to do the same thing sometime.
  3. Alex Winston's Guts: Such a good song. I found it on my Haim Pandora, and Alex's voice is amazing.
  4. This Lilly print: Just because I really want a picnic. Despite my allergies. I don't think I've ever been on a picnic. Packing food, good conversation, and beautiful scenery. Oh and how cute is this Anthropologie picnic set? I want it. I really want it. Pretty please?

  5. Anthropologie's house & home section is on point.
    More on point than usual.
I have been repinning Anthro's home decor all day!
  6. Learning: After talking with my homegirl A, she explained to me that even though the situation sucked, it was a learning experience. A life lesson. I'm so blessed to have A, and someone there for me to explain the bright side of all of this.
I'm so excited for a weekend to relax, refresh and rejuvenate. Here's to the weekend!

Re: Shoe Fetish

Exciting news I wanted to share: my mom told me (like an hour ago) that she'd sponsor $100 for any pair of shoes I wanted since my Jacks broke. This might or might not be the pick-me-up I needed. Some good news is always great. I've been so excited, and I got even more excited when I learned that Nordstrom currently has 25% off certain colors of the Tory Burch Miller sandal. Yay!

I'll keep you updated on my journey for Tory Burch sandals... which I've wanted since forever! I'm so excited. I really hope I will be able to get a pair on sale, since I'm paying for the remaining amount after $100 has been paid.

My first few paychecks will probably go towards paying for Torys, but it's totally worth it! Especially since I didn't think my mom would pay for them at all! The best surprises are the most unexpected ones.

I am getting greedy. Looking at shoes is like looking at puppies, you just want ALL OF THEM. (Wise words from yours truly. Quote of the day?) I'm so excited to get a pair of Torys, hopefully! I'll keep you posted.

Which pair am I getting? I think I've made a decision, but I'll need to try them in person to make sure it's the perfect pair. You'll just have to wait and see! ;)
